Join us for a hike up to the summit of Bull Hill (aka Mt Taurus), located right on the Hudson River in Cold Spring.
This is a 5.3 mile loop with 1400' elevation gain. The ascent to the top is steep, but we will have plenty of opportunities to stop on the way up, including an old quarry, and multiple views of Cold Spring, Breakneck Ridge, the Hudson river, and Storm King Mountain and West Point across the river. If we are lucky, when we reach the summit, we will be able to see New York City in the distance.
The descent down the other side of the mountain is much more gradual. Near the bottom, the trail passes through the old Cornish Estate, originally built in the early 1900s and destroyed by a fire in 1956. The estate included a large mansion, greenhouse, stables, garage and more. There is so much to explore and a nice reward at the end of the hike after climbing all the way to the top of the mountain.
