Justin Yoder is the founder and Executive Director of LGBT+ Outdoors, where he combines his passion for nature with his mission to connect the LGBTQ+ community to the great outdoors. His love for the natural world was sparked at a young age and has only grown stronger over time. Some of Justin’s favorite outdoor activities include camping, fishing, archery, and kayaking, all of which reflect his deep appreciation for the beauty and adventure the outdoors offers. Alongside his love for nature, Justin is passionate about advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights and is dedicated to introducing queer individuals to new outdoor activities, fostering both connection and empowerment. His commitment to building community and embracing adventure is at the heart of everything he does with LGBT+ Outdoors.

Trip Itinerary
Day 1 | Friday, May 16
3:00 PM: Group meets in Broken Bow for trip check-in and introductions
Set up camp in Beavers Bend State Park and explore the surrounding area
Evening campfire dinner and welcome session to go over the weekend plans
Day 2 | Saturday, May 17
Morning: Fly fishing begins on the Lower Mountain Fork River, renowned for its trout and scenic beauty. Enjoy a full day of fishing in the park’s streams and quiet pools
Lunch: Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy by the river
Afternoon: Continue fly fishing or relax in the park with optional activities like hiking or kayaking
Evening: Return to camp for a shared meal around the campfire and group reflection
Day 3 | Sunday, May 18
Morning: Fly fishing at a new spot in Beavers Bend State Park, focusing on prime areas for trout fishing
Lunch: Another relaxing riverside picnic
Afternoon: Open time for additional fishing, exploring Broken Bow, or enjoying park amenities
Evening: Final campfire dinner with stories, laughs, and celebrating a fantastic trip
Day 4 | Monday, May 19
Morning: Camp break and pack-up.
Group breakfast and optional short hike or fishing session to soak in the last moments of the trip
10:00 AM: Farewells and departure

Our trips are designed specifically for members of the LGBTQ+ community who are 18 years old and older, including bisexual individuals with straight partners, straight transgender individuals, and the straight partners of transgender people. We aim to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone within our broader community

While this is helpful, it is not a requirement. However, you must supply your own gear. If you do not have fly fishing experience, you are required to take a fly fishing course with Josh McNabb, in Dallas, TX the morning of May 16th. After the course is complete, everyone taking the course drives to Broken Bow.

Costs typically cover accommodations, most meals, guided activities, and park entry fees. Travel to and from the trip location is not included. However, we can provide rides from and to Lovefield Airport in Dallas. Please note, you must have a fishing license.

Yes. Reach out if you need help obtaining equipment and we can try to assist.

Transportation details vary by trip. Participants are generally responsible for getting to the starting point, but we’ll provide guidance on airports, car rentals, and carpools where possible. Some trips offer transportation from and to the best airport option.

Depending on the trip, accommodations may include camping, cabins, lodges, or other options. Specifics are outlined in the trip details. On camping trips you need to bring your own tent, but not cooking supplies unless you desire to cook your own meals. We have tents available if you do not have one.

Most meals are provided during the trip and can be customized to accommodate dietary needs. Please let us know your requirements in advance. You are welcome to provide and prepare your own meals, however, that won’t change the trip price.

Absolutely! Many participants join solo, and our trips foster a sense of community and connection, making it easy to form friendships.

The trip deposit is nonrefundable, but it can be applied to another Adventure Trip for the same year or following year. Other payment/s can be fully refunded up to 30 days before the trip start date. Within 30 days, 75% of your payment/s can be refunded. At any point you can transfer your deposit and payment/s to another attendee.

Yes. All trips require a $250 nonrefundable deposit to secure your spot on the trip. Depending on the amount of the trip determines the amount of payments allowed. When you pay for the trip you have three options:
1. Pay for the trip in full
2. Pay the deposit and the balance later
3.Pay the deposit and make payments allowed in payment form

Unfortunately, by the time the trip is happening expenses have been paid for and can not be refunded. Additionally, you are responsible for any additional costs such as, but not limited to flight changes or transportation to the airport.
